People living around the Mountjoy Arena will appreciate this: The Timmins Fall Fair committee is trying something to cut down on the number of cars parked in the neighbourhood all weekend.
Porcupine District Agricultural Society president Rock Whissell says his committee had to figure something out.
“So we decided to do a shuttle service starting at the Sportsplex Arena and you get dropped off right at the front gate at the Mountjoy Arena.”
“The neighbourhood are appreciativee of the fair,” he continues. “I mean it’s a family event, they all understand , but having vehicles parked in front of you for two days at a time I’m sure is a nuisance for them also. So trying to alleviate that problem is something that the fair committee has decided to do this year.”
Whissell says the fair is on rain or shine. Most of the outdoor offerings – including the bar – are covered.

Departs Sportsplex every hour on the hour starting at 9:00am, final departure at 4:00pm
Returns from Mountjoy Arena every hour on the half-hour starting at 11:30am, final bus at 8:30pm
SUNDAY
Departs Sportsplex every hour on the hour starting at 9:00am, final departure at 2:00pm
Returns from Mountjoy Arena every hour on the half-hour starting at 11:30am, final bus at 4:30pm
