Local author part of book fair in September

A Timmins author is one of nine invited to take part in the third annual Northern Ontario Book Fair, September 28th and 29th in Cobalt.

Thirty-eight-year-old Erika Pankiw says she’s been writing for eight years, and looks forward to getting together with other writers and sell her books.

“I’ve written nine books,” she tells My Timmins Now Dot Com. “There’s one that’s kind of more like a short story, but anyways. I create music as well but I also write about the music I create, telling stories and that kind of thing.”

Pankiw says she incorporates the lyrics frim her songs into her books.

“I have a really unique way of creating a book.  I tell a story and have the lyrics with photos as well.”

Like so many authors, Pankiw does not make a living through her writing.

“It’s a hobby,” she allows. “I hope it gets to be profitable for me. Otherwise, it’s definitely something that keeps me busy.”

The Silverleaf Writers Guild organizes the Northern Ontario Book Fair.
