Speculation and rumours have been flying around Timmins the past eleven days, ever since word came down that the Metro grocery store at Porcupine Mall is being closed.
One such rumour is that the company plans to open a Food Basics outlet in that space.
In an email, Metro Ontario Inc. communications specialist Katie Oestreich tells My Timmins Now Dot Com, “We cannot comment on whether the store will be replaced with a Food Basics.”
Asked about whether Metro owns the mall, Ostreich’s reply is “Metro has a wide real estate investment portfolio, with one of the assets being Porcupine Mall.”
