High-ranking DND official to review 101 Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Tiger

Next Wednesday is the night that all members of 101 Sea Cadet Corps Tiger work towards all year.

Executive officer, Sub-Lieutenant Clint Chartrand says they will celebrate the corps’s 77th annual cadet review.

“It’s for parents, family and we’ll probably have a big presence of other officers from other cadet organizations, possibly from the reserve unit, the Algonquins,” he explains. “It’s all people that come out to these annual events to see what’s going on and to see how the cadets are progressing over the year, I guess.”

No one can remember when such a high-ranking officer presided at the core’s annual review.

Commodore Steve Waddell – who grew up in Temagami — is coming from National Defence Headquarters for the event, next Wednesday night at the Cassidy Armoury.

“It’s awesome to have someone of Commodore Waddell’s stature coming to Timmins from Ottawa,” says Chartrand.  “He doesn’t have to.  I’m not sure when the last time was when we’ve had somebody – basically, that’s a general’s rank on the army side.” Waddell is about to be promoted to Rear Admiral and posted to the naval base at Virginia Bay, working with NORAD.
