Fulltime Daylight Saving Time wouldn’t work: Bisson

A Liberal MPP has put forth a private member’s bill at Queen’s Park, calling on Ontario to adopt daylight saving time permanently.

The NDP member for Timmins – Gilles Bisson – doesn’t think it’s practical.

“I think if you’re going to go that way, it’s something that you have to look at probably nationwide at the very least,” he comments.

Bisson really wonders why the member who represents an Ottawa riding is making such a proposal.  He notes that people move back and forth between Ottawa and Gatineau every day for work and having two different time zones, he says, would cause mass confusion.

“Ontario is a different province,” he points out. “It’s a populous area, you’ve got the while Ottawa Valley area, where there’s a lot of interchange between Quebec and Ontario and I don’t know how practical that would be, but for people in Timmins, I don’t think it would make much of a difference.”
