Final charge against Timmins psychic dropped by Crown

The Crown has withdrawn the final charge against the Timmins woman known professionally as “Psychic Nina”.

Tiffany Butch was charged in December with practicing witchcraft, an offence which has since been dropped from the Criminal Code.  Her lawyer, Sharon Sabourin, confirms that the Crown had earlier withdrawn that charge, and using the same set of alleged circumstances, charged her with fraud.

“Well, my view of it is that they had no reasonable prospect of conviction because Ms Butch was, of course, innocent of the charge,” says the lawyer.

Sabourin  confirms that she did donate 750 dollars to the Lord’s Kitchen.

“There is other diversion that is possible to take the matter out of the court system,” she says, “but this was sort of the middle ground, because she was not prepared to, willing to or encouraged by myself to accept any guilt.”

Sabourin says Butch is relieved that her family’s long cultural history of spiritual healing and clairvoyance won’t be sullied any longer.
