NEW TV DOCUMENTARY TRACES TIMMINS HISTORY

Part one of a two-part documentary dealing with the history of Timmins debuts this coming Wednesday night, March 6th on TV Ontario.

“Northern Gold” features interviews with a few people you might recognize, including Timmins Museum director-curator Karen Bachmann.

“The documentary itself looks a lot at the development of the history of Timmins and going right from the beginning to present day,” she tells My Timmins Now Dot Com.

“The museum participated to provide early history on what was the development of the community,” according to Bachmann. “We used a lot of artifacts within it, and just told a little bit of that early story.”

“We were able to use a lot of our film footage that we had, particularly from the Dr. Boutin collection.  We used a lot of photographs from the collection as well, and we even did get to highlight a few of our artifacts that are quite interesting as well.”

Bachmann herself appears in the documentary, as do other well-known locals.

“Yeah, I had some fun with it,” she says. “ But you know, to be perfectly honest, I have not seen a final cut of this, so I have no idea what was left on the cutting room floor and what actually appears in there.  So I’m anxious to see what things will look like.”

“Northern Gold” airs Wednesday at 9:00pm.  It is produced by Alibi Entertainment.
