NARROW LANES REQUIRE MORE DRIVER ATTENTION

Timmins Police are  concerned about a number of near-collisions on narrower than normal major arteries because of all the snow.

”In particular, Algonquin Boulevard and Riverside Drive,” says communications co-ordinator Marc Depatie.

As always, cars are sharing the road with large transport trucks.  Depatie says we need to be extra safe and responsible.

“Motorists are asked to use extra caution when meeting or following or overtaking tractor-trailers in these areas,” according to Depatie, “as narrower lanes of travel require an extra level of attention.”

The same goes for pedestrians.  Depatie urges heightened attention and that if you’re walking, only cross at intersections, and only when the cross signal says it’s okay.

Depatie says we’ll get through the current conditions, but it takes co-operation between motorists, regardless of the size of your vehicle, and pedestrians.
