NDP ridings to pick up case work once Thibeault steps down

At some point Sudbury MP Glenn Thibeault will have to quit his seat to run for the provincial Liberals in a by-election.

And when he does that triggers a series of problems.

MP Carol Hughes, of Algoma Manitoulin Kapuskasing, says once Thibeault is gone, his office workers are out of a job.

Hughes says there’s a mechanism in place to ensure case work the staff did doesn’t fall through the cracks, but she says it’s not good enough.

Hughes says the NDP in nearby ridings, including hers, have decided to help Sudbury people where they can.

Meanwhile, Thibeault continues to collect his MP salary while waiting for the Liberals to call the by-election.
