As we head into municipal election season, the city wants to make sure your information is all up to date.
The Clerks Department has the preliminary voters list ready, but it’s not the finalized list. Clerk Steph Palmateer says the city is asking you to review your information and ensure your address is right and your name is updated. “It’s an opportunity for them to come in and check, to ensure they are on the list.” Palmateer says “when the voters list is produced later on, their name will actually be there and they won’t have to do anything when it comes time to vote.”
He says it’s important to have the list as accurate as possible. “Prior to the election, many of the candidates will request a copy of the voters list so if everyone’s information is up to date and current it makes the whole process run smoother.”
Palmateer says you will have to bring some identification with you to verify the information. That can be a drivers license or a city bill with your current address on it. He says you can come to the clerk’s office during business hours anytime between now and the end of the month.
