Timmins Man Faces Stunt Driving Charges

A Timmins man has lost his vehicle and license for stunt driving.

The Timmins Police Service says on Monday afternoon a 23-year-old man was stopped for driving 144 kilometres an hour in Airport Road’s 80 kilometres an hour zone.

Communications Coordinator Marc Depatie says there are speed limits to keep everyone on the road safe and driving this fast is unacceptable. “these are denser traffic areas and given that there is a construction zone in the vicinity, these arteries are being used more frequently and more motorists on the roadways.”

“From a police perspective, there is no reasonable prospect that you can be travelling at that speed and not be aware of it” adds Depatie. He says driving dangerously like that can result in fines.

Police say the 23-year-old has his license suspended and vehicle towed and impounded for seven days.
He will be in provincial court in October.
