Free Summer Activities for Families

Getting kids outside and enjoying the sun is the goal for the summer.

The Timmins-Misiway Healthy Kids Community Challenge is launching its Power Off and Play summer calendar.

This is filled with free family activities to get kids away from the electronics and playing with others. Project Manager Madison Mizzau says with school being out kids tend to spend more time on their devices either watching TV or playing video games. Mizzau says the project wanted to create more opportunities for families to put down the screens without the barrier of cost.

Some of the activities include tennis, swimming, yoga and mini-putt. Mizzau says some community partners have also jumped on board to provide some fun classes. She says this month Science Timmins will be hosting an open house an STEM workshops every Wednesday evening, the Timmins Museum will host Kids Saturdays every week Discover Fitness with have kids classes every Saturday.
