Fire Department Makes some Major Promotions

There are some new faces within the management at the Timmins Fire Department.

Ellard Beaven is taking over the Deputy Chief position after Gerry Sabourin announced his retirement back in December.

Beaven started his firefighting career as a volunteer at the Mountjoy Station back in 1991, and has gradually moved up the ranks. He was promoted to full time in May 1994 and devoted 14 years to the rank of firefighter until promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in June 2008, which he held for 7 years. The fire department says Ellard was a member and Chair of the Ontario Fire Service Section 21 committee for health and safety. In August of 2015 he was then promoted to Captain, until his new promotion to rank of Deputy Fire Chief in March 2018.

Chief Normand Beauchamp says he is looking forward to working directly with Beaven.

The fire department also promoted Gilles Leduc to Captain, and Kurk Gagain to Lieutenant.
