Families have the opportunity to raise some chicks over the summer.

The Timmins Fall Fair is bringing back the Chick Program for the first time in five years. The fair says families in rural areas have the opportunity to raise three roosters and seven hens from babies to adults over the summer and bring back their best for show and prizes at the fair in September. President Rock Whissel says this is a great way to teach children about agriculture.

Whissel says he hopes this will boost agriculture in the northeastern region.

He says families can apply to be part of the program through the fair’s Facebook page.
