A few more “break the silence” billboards could be going up in the region.
Ray Auclair from Timmins has made it his mission to break the silence around male sexual abuse in the region. Auclair says he has billboards up in Timmins, Cochrane and Iroquois Falls, and his next goal is to put one in Smooth Rock Falls and Kapuskasing. He says he will be hosting a hockey game fundraiser on Saturday at the McIntyre Arena to raise money for the signs.
The signs have websites and help line numbers on them for victims to use. He says it costs $3,000 per billboard, but it’s worth it to get the message out.
The old timers’ hockey game fundraiser is $5. Puck drop is at 8:00pm.
