Sledders are being Reminded to Follow the Rules of the Road

You are being reminded to obey the rules of the road while snowmobiling.

The OPP says there are rules on who can be driving the snow machines. Constable Michelle Simard says drivers must be at least 12-years-old with valid a driver’s or snow vehicle operator’s licence and the snowmobile must be both registered and insured.

Simard says drivers also have to be mindful of the speed limits on the trails and roadways.

She says it’s also up to the rider to check to see if the city allows snow machines on the municipal roads. The Timmins Police Service has stated that snowmobiles are not permitted on any municipal roads with exception to the trail entrances.

Simard says sledding can be a great family activity as long as it is done safely.
