Warning Issued After a Needle Was Found in a Child’s Halloween Candy

Parents are once again being reminded to check your kids Halloween candy after a report of some being tampered with.

The Timmins Police Service says on Monday, officers received a report of alleged candy tampering from a Timmins resident. Communications Coordinator Kate Cantin says the resident found a sewing needle inside a small chocolate bar in their child’s Halloween bag.

Cantin says the child was trick-or-treating in areas around Diane Crescent, Gatineau Boulevard, College Street, Viscount Avenue and Pine Street North.

She says if there is no air in the candy or it looks tampered with, you should throw it out. Cantin adds that if you find anything like this in your child’s candy, you should report it to police.

Anyone with information is asked to call Police or Crime Stoppers.
