Kirkland Lake and Kapuskasing have teamed up to install solar panels along Archer Drive in Kirkland Lake. The project began in 2012, with a goal of bringing extra revenue to the municipality. Kapuskasing developed the solar projects, Kirkland Lake has the solar panels, and then any electricity generated is sold to Hydro One. Any profits will be split equally between the two towns, and construction is set to begin next summer.
