News Water Tank Sales are Legitimate SHARE ON: Taylor Ablett, staff Thursday, Jul. 31st, 2014 The Timmins Police Service has received several inquiries regarding a company going door-to-door selling hot water tanks. The public is advised that this company is legitimate and is in possession of a valid business license to sell their products in the area. Residents should continue to take steps to ensure door-to-door sales are legitimate. These tips include: • Ask to see identification/credentials of salespeople at the door. • Ask if salespeople have business licenses to sell their product in your community. • If asked to sign a contract – ask the salesperson to leave it with you and come back later to allow the contract to be read carefully. • Perform an internet search of the company to ensure they are a reputable business. • Don’t provide people with your personal information by showing any type of bill (such as utility bills). The public should note that if salespeople are asked to leave, they must do so immediately. Residents are reminded that if at any time they feel something is suspicious, they should contact police.
