A new online scam is targeting northern businesses.

Sudbury police say scammers are pretending to be senior management from the company and are sending e-mails to the finance division asking for money to make a purchase. Police say the purchases are fake and the scammers are trying to pocket the money.

Police suggest that if someone is asking for large amounts of money through e-mail, you should confirm the request verbally.
