Timmins high schools are ranking below the provincial average according to the Fraser Institute Report Card.

The average high school rating in the city is 4.1 out of 10, compared to the provincial average of 6.

District School Board Ontario North East Board Chair Doug Shearer says the board doesn’t look too much into the school ratings.

Shearer says northern boards never fair as well as boards in major centres. He adds that there are more factors that go into a successful school than a ranking.
