Timmins City Council will be helping Northern College build a new fire hall and training facility. This comes with a $2-million bill to the city.
Councillor Rick Dubeau says this is a bad idea because it adds to firefighter response times, potentially putting them in danger.
Councillor Veronica Farrell says a brand new building, built with new cost efficient supplies, will be great for the city.
Farrell adds that it will be great to have the ambulance and fire services working from the same building. She says positives like a new training facility, outweigh the negative cost.
