News Council to Defer All Donation Requests SHARE ON: Mackenzie Read, contributor, Wednesday, Jan. 18th, 2017 Timmins City Council will be deferring any donation request talks until more of the 2017 budget is laid out. This comes after council was confronted with four requests totalling just over $22,000. Councillor Pat Bamford says it’s hard to say no to these good groups and good people doing wonderful things. Bamford adds it’s not that we don’t want to be generous, but maybe we are being too generous. He says it’s just the first two weeks of the new budget year and there’s is already $20,000 of requests. Councillor Joe Campbell says council should establish a policy of what requests they will and will not support, otherwise these requests will keep rolling in week after week.
