Power Companies Asked to Produce Less Energy

Northland Power in Iroquois Falls is being asked to produce less energy over the next four months. The Independent Electricity System Operator sent out the request. Northland says despite producing less power, jobs will not be affected and the company will still receive the same amount of money under the terms of its contract. The IESO wants Northland and similar sized companies to focus on producing power when there’s a high demand. The IESO says this makes electricity production more efficient because maintenance costs drop and less natural gas is burned.
