Council waives tipping fees for La Ronde reconstruction

Timmins city council is agreeing to waive the tipping fees for Centre culturel La Ronde, as the centre is being rebuilt after being damaged by a fire last winter. Mayor Steve Black says they’re doing so because the centre plays an important role in Timmins, and the francophone community. He says council has seen the value the centre has on the community, and so has agreed to work with them to get it back up and running as soon as possible.

Black also notes if council were to charge the full tipping fees, it would be expensive as the demolition is large. That cost could be up to 200,000. The new La Ronde centre will be built at the same Mountjoy location.
