News Health unit reminding residents to get their flu shot SHARE ON: Taylor Ablett, staff Tuesday, Nov. 8th, 2016 Timmins residents are being reminded to get their flu shot this month. The Porcupine Health Unit is sending out the reminder, saying they are running free clinics all month. Public health nurse at the PHU, Joelle Chartrand, says getting vaccinated means building up immunity, gaining strength, and becoming more resistant to the virus. She says many people think of the flu as a harmless illness, but it can lead to serious complications. On top of the PHU clinics, you can also get the shot through your doctor or local pharmacies.
