Carol Hughes, the federal member for Algoma Manitoulin Kapuskasing says the feds have broken an election promise to First Nations. Hughes says last fall Prime Minister Justin Trudeau promised to close the education gap many First Nations face.
But, Hughes says the feds are denying the TEG Educational Institute money for the first time in 20 years. She’s trying to find out why and is asking the Minister of Aboriginal and Northern Development for an explanation. Hughes says the programming the institute provides has a positive impact on First Nation students.
