News Potential for flooding in Timmins as the spring melt gets underway SHARE ON: Taylor Ablett, staff Thursday, Apr. 21st, 2016 Mattagami River. Photo: Supplied by Taylor Ablett The Timmins Flood Advisory Committee is updating the city on flooding potential as the spring melt is getting underway. The latest snow surveys show that the depth and water content of the snowpack is higher than normal. Because of that, there is a slight risk of flooding at the Mattagami River, Porcupine Lake, and Town Creek. If you live in those areas, move any unsecured items from along the shore to higher ground, and have a Household Emergency Plan in place in case you are asked to evacuate. The MRCA website will be updated with watershed conditions and public advisories.
