Timmins is getting ready for this year’s spring clean-up. The city is awarding this year’s contract to Northern Industrial Services Group at a cost of $3000 per day, per crew. Since NISG will have two crews out, it will cost $6000 each day.
City Engineer Luc Duval says they contract the clean-up out because of they need access to a compacter. Duval says the contractor that comes along with the truck is also key for the city. He says this a budgeted activity, with the envelope sitting at $70,000.
The city estimates the two week period will cost $60,000 which comes under budget by $10,000. The spring clean-up runs from May 30th to June 10th.
The city is releasing the following list of items that are not collected during spring clean-up:
- Concrete and asphalt
- Propane tanks
- White goods or items that contain Freon
- Paints/ liquids/fuels/ chemicals
