Rob Knox takes Timmins mayoralty in a landslide

Rob Knox is the new mayor-elect of Timmins.

His total of 9,980 votes in Monday’s election is more than three times those tallied by incumbent Michelle Boileau, who finished second at 3,016. It was a six-person race.

Knox credits his convincing victory to Timmins being ready for a change. He says the city is embracing being “at the crossroads of fantastic economic development”.

“And as well,” he continues,”we have to deal with various social issues that we have and I feel that I was a candidate who brought some of the responsible and reasonable ideas towards solving some of the things that are in front of us right now.”

Knox adds that a priority in his term will be housing for everyone. But for now, he’s looking forward to some rest before his swearing-in.

“We’ve been at this for about a year and a half and we have a terrific team that’s been working together. So this is just a great culmination of a year and a half of great, hard work and we’re really pleased with it.”
