A 38 year old Courtland resident is facing several charges following a traffic stop by OPP in Moonbeam on Sunday.
Police stopped the driver for speeding and upon further investigation revealed that the person was bound by the driver’s license condition ‘I’ which requires an ignition interlock device that has the ability to prevent the engine from starting if it detects alcohol on a breath sample. It can be a mandatory condition imposed or the driver can opt in.
The Courtland resident is charged with operating a motor vehicle without insurance, driving a motor vehicle not equipped with ignition interlock device, using a plate not authorized for the vehicle and speeding 23 kilometres over the speed limit. The vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
