Chamber president credits CEO with high national profile

For a relatively small organization among its larger peers, the Timmins Chamber of Commerce is front and centre.

New president Val Venneri is just back from leading a local delegation to the annual meeting of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.  Two resolutions dealing with climate change, indigenous communities and their winter roads; and the Species At Risk Act were adopted as official positions of the national body.

“Timmins as a Chamber is so well respected across the nation,” Venneri claims.  “It’s amazing how much power they really hold for such a small community, when you think of all the big ones that are out there.”

Venneri gives all the credit for Timmins being in the forefront to his chief executive, Keitha Robson.

“She does her job extremely well.  She’s well respected within that industry and yeah, we’re very lucky to have her.”
