Town hall organizer hopes to establish regional chapter of Ontario Health Coalition

What the province appears to be doing to health care is the focus of a town hall-style meeting, on Saturday, April 6th at eleven o’clock at the Timmins Museum.

It’s being organized by Ed Stecewicz, as he tries to establish a regional chapter of the health care watchdog organization, the Ontario Health Coalition.  Right now, Stecewicz says it’s targeting changes that Premier Doug Ford wants to make to the system.

“He’s promised about cutting down wait times but there’s no mention of opening new operating rooms or opening the ones that are closed or no new medical positions, no new long term care bed,” says Stecewicz.  “It just seems he wants to cut and bring in some privatization.

“Privatization I think would cause a two-tier level of health care, for the haves and the have nots, and that should not happen to our health care.”

Stecewicz says there are better ways to improve health care.

He’s hoping people from the outlying areas around Timmins attend the town hall, because Timmins is their health care hub.
