Byron Spence guilty of first degree murder

The jury in the first degree murder trial of Byron Spence has found him guilty. Deliberations took nearly 24 hours, but the decision came back unanimous. Spence shot his half brother, Jonah Trapper, in 2009. He then stepped over his brother at least three times while trying to leave their home in South Porcupine. Spence’s lawyer is recommending an appeal, citing mental health issues, and saying the shooting was an accident. The minimum sentence for first degree murder is 25 years.
