Timmins residents seeing both sides of the coin when it comes to taxing marijuana

There seems to be a difference of opinion in Timmins about how marijuana should be taxed.

The federal finance minister met with his provincial counterparts today to settle on tax rates on legalized pot, with the feds pushing to keep taxes low in order to keep sales out of back alleys. No agreement was reached.

Finance Minister Bill Morneau says there is still a lot of work to be done before the legalization deadline, which is July 1st of next year.

Moose FM went to the streets to find out what you think about keeping the marijuana tax low.

Timmins-James Bay MP Charlie Angus has released a statement from the NDP on his website, which says the party is happy to see some movement on legalization. However, the statement questions why the Liberals are claiming it will take over a year to pass the legislation.
