A grassroots movement is lobbying for passenger train services to be reinstated in northern Ontario. The group is called Northern and Eastern Ontario Rail Network. NEORN is pitching the environmental benefits of rail service, saying it produces less greenhouse gas emissions, and fits into the government’s strategy to reduce our carbon footprint. They also say railways are the link between communities and First Nations, with socio-economic and tourism benefits.
Support for the passenger train network is growing, and more information is on the NEORN website.
