Fire fighters had to rescue a man on Moose River during the second incident in a less than a week

The James Bay OPP says it assisted in a rescue of a drunk man crossing Moose River on Christmas Day. Police say they arrived on scene to find an intoxicated man laying on the ice in the river.

The OPP says three firefighters made their way out onto the ice as the man was approaching open water where they were able to retrieve him only 150 feet from shore. EMS took the man to a hospital where he was treated for exposure to severe cold.

The OPP says always use caution when traversing ice, whether by foot or by vehicle.
