Expect to see work being done this winter to establish the new Melrose Heights subdivision in Timmins.
City council has awarded a contract worth $36,296,444.00 to GIP Interpaving.
Infrastructure and growth director Scott Tam says it’s Phase 1 towards 172 housing lots.
“These are going to be fully serviced water and sewer mains, storm sewers, street lighting, third party trenching,” he outlines.
“With the scheduling that GIP has provided us,” he continues, “it’s more winter work for them. So they’re able to meet the demands.”
The single-family houses, apartment complexes and rowhouses will help absorb the families attached to the 3,500 new jobs projected for the city by 2029.
