OPP say election signs are private property

With municipal election day just over two weeks away, the OPP wants us to remember that elections signs are private property and tampering with them is illegal.

Constable Stephanie Belec reported that there have been occurrences of theft and mischief of election signage in Smooth Rock Falls. She says that anyone who steals or damages election signs may be arrested and or charged with theft or mischief.

She adds that if an election sign happens to be obstructing a view of an intersection along the highway, the owner of the sign may be called in to have its location changed.
