Hwy. 11 reopening with convoys

As we compare this latest snow storm to the one at the end of December, highways are beginning to open up.

At last report, Hwy. 655 from Driftwood to the Kidd mine is still closed.

However, the OPP and MTO have begun reopening Hwy.11 in a novel way.

They’ve set up a northbound convoy from North Bay.  It’s led by a snowplow with a police cruiser bringing up the rear.

Similar convoys will be starting out of Temagami, Englehart, Matheson, and Cochrane as conditions allow.
