Timmins is moving forward with plans to sponsor a Syrian refugee family. The Timmins Refugee Sponsorship Committee has been created to oversee the process. Before a family can make the move to Timmins, $15,000 needs to be raised. That number will then be matched by the city for a total of $30,000 which is the estimated cost for a family of five to live in Timmins for a year.
Donations can be made at city hall, at the main floor finance desk, or online at Timmins.ca. Donation receipts will be available.
