Official construction started for Centre de Santé Communautaire de Timmins

The sod has been turned on Kent Ave. on a $17-million health care centre in Timmins that will serve francophones across the Cochrane District.

For the past few years, Centre de Santé de Communautaire Timmins primary care services have been offered at Timmins Square, with administration on Wilson Ave.

Board chair Karine Briand says having it all under one much larger roof will make a big difference.

“There are certain jobs that we cannot fulfill at this point, because we don’t have the space,” she tells My Timmins Now Dot Com. “And so we’ll be able to fulfill all of the jobs that were allocated to us by the ministry.”

This plan has been in the works since 1989 for one-stop health care for people in their first language.

Staff members display architectural drawings of the new health centre.
