Keep the kids safe this Halloween with these tips from the OPP

Halloween is right around the corner, prompting some safety reminders from northeastern police units. OPP Staff Sergeant Baldassare Nuccio says trick-or-treaters should try to go out whenever it’s still light outside or to bring a flashlight with them if it’s dark.

Nuccio also says kids should always wait until an adult inspects candy before eating it. He says never go into the home of someone you don’t know while out trick-or-treating. He also notes if a home isn’t lit up, or has an obstructed walkway, give it a pass.

Finally, Nuccio reminds everyone to not take part in vandalism on Halloween night. He says the OPP does get calls about mischief on the 31st, and doing things like destroying pumpkins or decorations is not advised.
