Timmins teen facing charges after threats were sent over social media

A 14-year-old Timmins boy is facing charges for threats made over social media. Timmins Police is releasing information about the investigation which begun last year. Officers got reports of the student sending multiple threatening messages to another student, and a teacher, of a local school. The teen is now facing two counts of uttering threats.

Police say all threats, including those made online, are taken seriously. They also say no online activity is completely private, and deleted messages can be recovered if police have to get involved. Using social media to harass people could lead to criminal charges. The teen’s name will not be released as he is a young offender.
