Bell ringing opens first 2025 urban market

A summer tradition in Downtown Timmins is underway for another year.

BIA vice-chair Chad Dubanow made the declaration and Timmins MPP George Pirie rang the bell to officially open the first of nine urban markets on Third Ave., between Spruce St. and Cedar St.

Will Morrison is in his third summer working for the BIA and as such, leads other students in organizing the market all of July and August.

He’s going into his third year at Carleton University in political science, and says this job will help him get into politics.

“Oh yeah, for sure,” he enthusiastically agrees. “I’m making a lot of connection with a lot of local leaders and a lot of business organizations downtown and that’s been a big help for me in getting out there and getting some connections.”

Every Wednesday, the market features a farm-style market and activities geared toward kids.
