Despite the persistent forecast for a rainy Canada Day, it’s full steam ahead for celebrations in Hollinger Park.
Confirming that is Lacey Rigg, a member of the city-led organizing committee.
“We’re really hoping that much like this morning, it just rains a little bit in the morning and then we’ll have fun festivities this afternoon,” she says. “The only way the committee will cancel anything is if there is lightning and thunder.”
Check for updates tomorrow on the Facebook page called “The city of Timmins”.
Rigg adds that rain will not be a deterrent to the nighttime fireworks over Gillies Lake, although the final decision belongs to the pyrotechnic experts operating them.
