Barring any unforeseen complications underground, the target to finish a culvert replacement on Gold Mine Rd. is the end of next week.
The city’s manager of public works, Shane Skinner, says the existing culvert is failing. It’s near Bruce Ave. and the start of the Rotary Trail.
Local contractor John Delost is doing the work to improve drainage right there.
“There will be lane reductions, not full lane closures,” says Skinner, “so it will be signalized so after hours and stuff like that you’ll have drop bars and the signals there to allow people to go through there safely.”
That stretch of road is also slated to undergo shaving and paving.
“So we’ll be putting that back down to new asphalt in that area right after as well. So we’re trying to coordinate the timing between the one contractor completing the culvert replacement and then the paving contractor right after to finish it up all in one swift go.”
