Tire business in Timmins scores NOHFC grant

The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund is now the purview of Timmins MPP and northern economic development and growth minister George Pirie. One of the first projects he announced funding for is the expansion of Murray OK Tire in Timmins.

It’s $400,000.00 for expansion of its shop on the western end of Schumacher.

Co-owner Yanick Murray says it’s a stepping stone to help his family grow its business and serve the community.

“Also with the industry of mining taking off and being up there right now,” he observes, “this will help us keep up with the demand of work for the community and the mines around Timmins.”

“There is a different division for the big tires (for mining vehicles), which we have partners as well. We all work together as a big team to make things happen.”

Mining clients are served mostly from Murray’s location on Hwy. 655 at Laforest Rd.
