Not one, but two ambulances filled to the roof with toys during annual event

Thirteen has been a lucky number for the annual Fill an Ambulance toy drive in Timmins.

Last Saturday’s 13th annual event resulted in one ambulance at each of Canadian Tire and Walmart filled to the roof with toy donations for Northeastern Ontario Family and Children’s Services (NEOFACS).

Paramedic commander Derrick Cremin says they both ended up filled to the roof.

“Again, the community has come out to support this and has been amazing,” he remarks, “and we wouldn’t be able to do this program without the committed volunteers.”

Those volunteers include paramedics along with Service Board employees and their kids.

“Some people stood out there a couple hours; some people stood out there all day, and some of the kids from the DSSAB, they helped out,” Cremin adds.

All the toys were delivered to NEOFACS for distribution this Christmas.
