It’s not the only factor, but the issue with the Homelessness and Addictions Recovery Treatment (HART) Hub at the Ramada Inn has tipped it for Ward 1 Timmins councillor Rock Whissell. Here’s what he said last week at the council meeting.
“This will end my political career. I’m done after two years because of this.”
Whissell has clarified with My Timmins Now Dot Com that only his city council career will be over when the current term ends in two years.
“I just see myself going back to my roots and going back to the farmers market and the fall fair,” he says, “having more time to concentrate on those positive things that I’ve done in the community that continue, and I’m looking forward to working with upper government as well.”
Whissell says that with federal and provincial elections looming, he’ll work to continue the great efforts of Conservative MPP George Pirie and see where it leads.
